Nested Realities Exposition

Nature & Technology

I joined the STRP Spacemakers project from February to July 2021, where I worked with 11 students and 2 artists, Sunjoo Lee and Ko de Beer, to create an artistic exhibition. The theme was co-creation with nature and technology. I was part of a group focused on coding/creative coding, and we tracked the journey of a Honey Buzzard migrating from the Netherlands to Africa. We used the bird’s flight data and a YouTube API to share his journey through videos. Later, I helped create interactive coding for the exhibition, where branches influenced projections, adding a colorful, dynamic element to the experience.

This project taught me how to collaborate within a larger group, which was a new experience compared to the smaller teams of 4-6 people I was used to. We divided into smaller teams within the group, which worked really well. It was also exciting to start a project from scratch and brainstorm ideas together. With the theme of nature and the artist’s use of technology as a starting point, we developed some great ideas and concepts that we could bring to life.
